Report: Everton and West Ham keen on £40m-rated Gabriel Barbosa
Everton and West Ham are both keen on signing Flamengo striker Gabriel Barbosa this summer, according to a report from The Mirror.
The reports claims both the Hammers and the Toffees could be set to battle it out for Barbosa, who has caught the eye with his impressive goalscoring.
Interestingly, Barbosa has already expressed how he has enjoyed watching West Ham play. The Hammers, then, could look to use that to their advantage.
Barbosa, 24, has scored goals his entire career. Indeed, he’s already hit more than 100 thanks to explosive spells with both Santos and Flamengo.
He’s also scored three in nine for Brazil, which is by no means bad at all at international level.
The Mirror claims that a bid in the region of £40m could do it for both West Ham and Everton. Whether either club is willing to spend that on Barbosa, however, remains to be seen.
The Hammers are still yet to sign a striker after letting Sebastien Haller join Ajax in January. Everton, meanwhile, are heavily reliant on Dom Calvert-Lewin, while Richarlison is also wanted by Real Madrid.
Goals, goals, and more goals
Everton and West Ham could do a lot worse than sign Barbosa here. The man oozes class, and certainly knows where the back of the net is.
Yes, the £40m fee is a big outlay. But strikers are worth their weight in gold and ultimately, those sorts of fee are what’s needed for the top players.
Barbosa would certainly improve both sides. The question really now is do they push the boat out and make their move.
