Report: Everton and West Ham among sides interested in Brazilian winger Pepe

Everton and West Ham United have been credited with interest in highly-rated Brazilian winger Pepe.

According to a report from Calciomercato, the Premier League sides are eyeing a move for the South American star, who is one of Gremio’s best players.

The club do not want to lose him after they just sold Everton Cebolinha to Benfica, but may ultimately be powerless in the face of the financial might of two Premier League clubs.

The publication add that it would take at least €20 million/£18 million for them to consider a sale.

Also on the scene for the player are Wolverhampton Wanderers, who are claimed to have actually tabled an informal offer for the 23-year-old.

Pepe has turned out 72 times for Gremio’s first-team and scored 15 goals. He’s also provided six assists.

The tricky forward, who is blessed with impressive acceleration, is uncapped so far at senior international level, but has made six appearances for the Brazil U23s.

TBR’s View – Everton could be more likely

Wolves probably stand a very good chance of landing Pepe, but Everton may well feel confident giving how their squad is shaping.

With midfielder Allan recently joining the club, there are now three Brazilians at Goodison Park (Richarlison and Bernard the others), with Andre Gomes and Joao Virginia who speak the same language as Pepe.

On top of that there are South Americans Yerry Mina and James Rodriguez who could add to the lure from Merseyside.
