Report: Everton and Tottenham outcasts lined-up to join league leaders on loan in Januar
Takvim say SuperLig leaders Fenerbahce are eyeing a double move to sign Tottenham ace Ryan Sessegnon, and Everton outcast Jean-Philippe Gbamin.
Fener have made an excellent start to the season under Portuguese gaffer Vitor Pereira. But they want to maintain that, by adding some fresh talent.
Pereira is said to be keen to bulk up his midfield and add some pace to the left flank. This is where Tottenham and Everton come into the equation.
Sessegnon, 21, featured in both Europa Conference League qualifiers against Pacos de Ferreira – but has since failed to play a single minute.
That is despite a decent loan spell at Hoffenheim last season, where as a left-back he clocked up five goal involvements. Gbamin is also a target.
Such are his injury issues, that Gbamin has managed four Everton appearances since joining the club in 2019. He needs game time.
Gbamin and Sessegnon: Fenerbahce ideal for Tottenham, Everton stars
Both players are in a similar boat – even though Sessegnon has had more game time in the last year. They need to play, and restore some confidence.
A move to another Premier League side, or one in Europe’s top five leagues might not guarantee game time. Fenerbahce would.
While it is below the standard of the Premier League, it would allow Sessegnon and Gbamin to play regular football – and fight for a league title.
Fener sit first and having those minutes, under pressure from a ferocious support to win the league – will surely prove tempting for both players.
