Everton and Liverpool are reportedly willing to bid for exciting Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze.
La Razon has claimed the Toffees and the Reds are two of seven sides sniffing around the Nigerian forward, who is understood to have a £71 million release clause.
Also in the mix according to the report are Real Madrid, Manchester United, Leicester, Chelsea and Wolves.
Chukwueze, 21, is viewed as one of La Liga’s most exciting young players, but is still quite raw at this stage in his career.
So far in 2020/21, he has scored just the one goal and laid on three assists in 12 appearances.
His game, which revolves around around beating players with pace and dribbling, has previously been likened to Dutch legend Arjen Robben (Goal).
Chukwueze has been with his current club since November 2018, and has a contract until 2023, meaning Villarreal are in a strong position over their asset, with La Razon adding interested suitors will be referred to the release clause.
TBR’s View – Chukwueze needs to improve before big-money move
It remains to be seen if either Liverpool – who have been linked with a move for another speedy winger in Adama Traore – or Everton actually bid for Chukwueze.
At the moment, the player is exciting but unpolished and may well need a little longer to develop with Villarreal before moving on to pastures new.
Certainly if Villarreal will only accept the value of his release clause then both teams should be walking away at this stage.
