Liverpool and Everton may yet have a chance of landing Schalke midfielder, Weston McKennie, after his move to Hertha Berlin broke down at the last minute.
Bild has reported the news, claiming that a number of issues have led to the move collapsing. It is thought differences over the transfer fee, plus McKennie not being 100% convinced of the move, have all contributed.

Interestingly, the report claims McKennie is interested in a move to the Premier League. That, of course, could intrigue the Merseyside duo, who were both linked (CBS) with the midfielder back in June.
McKennie impressed for Schalke last season, being an almost ever-present for the Bundesliga giants. At just 21 and a full USA international already, the youngster could well provide long-term value for money.

However, talk in the report from Bild claims a fee of over £30m will be needed. That sort of money could well put Liverpool and Everton off given the current economic situation.

Athletic, aggressive, and excellent ability with the ball at his feet, there is little doubting the talent McKennie possesses.
As mentioned, at just 21, he has so much time to improve his game further and become a brilliant player on the European scene.
He could definitely be worth a punt for both Everton and Liverpool. The Reds are stalling over a move for Thiago Alcantara, while Everton needs squad improvements following their poor 12th placed finish last term.
McKennie, then, could well be an ideal capture.
