Report: Everton and Leicester join race for Nicolas Tagliafico, Arsenal previously linked

French outlet Le10Sport have claimed that Everton and Leicester City are the latest Premier League clubs to become interested in Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico, with Arsenal and Chelsea being previously linked.

Tagliafico, 27, is becoming regarded as one of the best left-backs in European football yet to make a big move to one of Europe’s top-five leagues. A whole host of Ajax’s star-studded squad are expected to move this summer.

Indeed, Chelsea have already confirmed the signing of Hakim Ziyech. Now, Argentina international Tagliafico could be next and Le10Sport state Everton and Leicester are keen – as are Chelsea, with Tagliafico rated at £22.5m.

The Sun claimed in May that Arsenal were keen on Tagliafico in order to shore up Bukayo Saka’s move to his more natural position of left wing. Now, the Gunners face more Premier League competition from Everton and Leicester.

TBR’s view – Which club needs Tagliafico most?

Everton do not need a left-sided defender. Leighton Baines is due to extend his deal and Lucas Digne is one of Carlo Ancelotti’s best players. The other three Premier League clubs could do with Tagliafico, though.

Arsenal do boast Sead Kolasinac and Kieran Tierney but both have endured numerous injury worries this season. Chelsea are about to sign Ben Chilwell, but do need a left-back. If Chilwell goes, Leicester will need a left-back.

Tagliafico’s best bet for game time is Leicester, given Chilwell is expected to leave and he will be afforded Champions League game time as the club’s first-choice defender.
