Everton are reportedly among a number of Premier League clubs keen on landing Sunderland defender, Brandon Taylor.
According to a report from the Sunderland Echo, the Toffees are keen on signing the 20-year-old.
Taylor, who is not even a first-team regular with the Black Cats, is reportedly attracting admiring glances from the likes of Bournemouth and Leicester City, too.
He’s made only a handful of appearances this term in the cup competitions. However, that doesn’t seem to have affected the scouting teams of the Premier League giants.
Sunderland are looking to seal a play-off spot in League One at the moment but have found consistent performances hard to come by.
They lost Josh Maja last season as Bordeaux took one of their better young talents off their hands. They will be keen, then, to see Taylor stay put for the immediate future at least.
A typical Everton signing – TBR View
Everton are not scared of making moves on the market in the lower leagues. A few seasons ago we saw them sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Sheffield United. The striker is now the main man in attack for the Toffees.
They have a history with Sunderland, too, having signed Jordan Pickford for big-money a few seasons back.
Carlo Ancelotti is clearly keen on rebuilding the club in his own way and signing young players, as well as ready-made talent, is a good way to go.
Everton are also renowned for giving young talent a chance. We’ve seen a plethora of young players emerge in recent years, such as Tom Davies, Ross Barkley, and Mason Holgate.
If Taylor did make the move, he’d be hoping to follow in the footsteps of those names and cement a regular place in the Everton team for years to come.
