Everton are one of the teams said to be keen on signing red-hot Brazilian striker Gabriel Barbosa.
The 23-year-old – more commonly known as ‘Gabigol’ – has enjoyed a fantastic loan spell with Flamengo over the past year, scoring 31 goals in 38 games.
He made headlines last week for scoring a late brace against River Plate in the Copa Libertadores to seal a stunning 2-1, before getting sent off at the very end.
The star has had a brilliant year for Flamengo and appears to have rediscovered his mojo after struggling to make the grade at parent club Inter Milan, whom he signed for back in 2016 in a €28 million/£24 million deal (Goal).
Flamengo’s president Rodolfo Landimare had said negotiations are underway with Inter.
TBR’s view – Gabigol the answer to Everton’s problems?
Everton appear to have a long-standing interest in Gabigol, and perhaps right now they could with him.
Marco Silva’s side have been rather toothless once again this term, scoring just 13 goals in 13 Premier League games.
Young Moise Kean hasn’t made the desired impact, with Silva using Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison through the middle at times.
Perhaps the Toffees should consider moving quickly for the talented South American, who looks a fantastic talent once again.
