Report: European side discuss swoop for £60,000-per-week Tottenham man
According to TuttoBolognaWeb, Danny Rose has been offered to Bologna ahead of the left-back leaving Tottenham Hotspur.
Rose has spent the past 14 years on the books in north London. But Spurs will release the 30-year-old when his contract expires at the end of the month.
The Leeds United product failed to feature in any competition under Jose Mourinho or interim coach Ryan Mason last term. His sole appearances of the campaign instead came with Tottenham’s Under 23s after returning from a half-season loan with Newcastle.
Rose could now see his career feature a spell in Italy’s Serie A after Bologna were offered his services.
However, the Rossoblu are not currently exploring a deal to sign Rose as a free agent. Instead, the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara natives are prioritising the arrival of a new striker and central defender.
Sinisa Mihajlovic’s side could explore signing Rose later in the window once Bologna have strengthened their key positions. The Emilia-Romagna outfit endured a miserable 2020/21 season, finishing the Serie A campaign 12th after 17 defeats in 38 games.
TBR’s view: Rose endured seismic Tottenham decline
Rose being linked with clubs of Bologna’s stature is a sign of how seismic his decline at Tottenham has been. It also speaks volumes that Mihajlovic did not jump at the chance to sign the former England international for free.
Only two years ago, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain were duelling over a £20million deal (The Sun) for Rose. He also held out for a move to PSG that did not come in 2018 amid interest from across Europe.
Now, Rose has been thrown onto the scrap heap by Tottenham and a bottom-half Serie A side are telling him to wait. A player who earned £60,000-per-week in north London, made played 194 career Premier League games and earned 29-caps for England.
