Emile Smith Rowe is expected to leave Arsenal on loan during the January transfer window, according to a report from Football London.

Mikel Arteta is gearing up for his first window since taking charge at the Emirates. And it would be little surprise if he was keen to start an overhaul of the squad that is likely to continue into the summer.

Gunners fans will surely be expecting some players to depart. And it appears that one of those who is set to be on the move in the next month is Smith Rowe.

The 19-year-old has made six first-team appearances this season. And he was handed his full Premier League debut at the weekend, playing more than an hour of the goalless draw at Everton.

But Football London reports that the attacking midfielder is expected to go on loan when the window opens. It is suggested that the club want Smith Rowe to play between 15 and 20 games during the second-half of the season.

Football London adds that the England under-20 international is on the radar of clubs in the Premier League and abroad. It is reported that his preference is to stay in England.

A loan move could be fantastic for Smith Rowe. There will surely be opportunities if he stays at Arsenal. But another club may be able to offer him a regular starting spot for the coming months.

It would be even better if he could stay in the top flight. There would perhaps be no better way for the teenager to prove a point to Arteta ahead of the summer.
