Emil Krafth is considering rejecting the chance to leave Newcastle United after the right-back started for the Magpies on Monday, according to a report from the Daily Mail.
Krafth has endured a tough time since arriving on Tyneside. He has struggled to cement his spot in Steve Bruce’s side, making just 15 Premier League starts since arriving in 2019.
And it appeared that he may be on the way out of St James’ Park this month. According to the Daily Mail, he had been linked with a £2.7 million move to Istanbul Basaksehir in this window.
And it did seem that he was ready to leave. However, Bruce’s decision to include him in the starting lineup at the Emirates may force Krafth into a u-turn.
According to the Mail, the 26-year-old is now weighing up his options and is considering staying at Newcastle.
TBR View: Krafth’s stance may concern some Newcastle fans
Unfortunately, Krafth has not been a particularly impressive signing for the Magpies. And his performance at the Emirates did little to suggest that he deserves more game-time.
So it may concern some Newcastle supporters should he decide to stay. Spotrac shows that he earns around £57,000-a-week.
Even if that figure is some way off, it is still a remarkable amount to pay for someone who has been a fringe player for the club.
Moving him on therefore, may hand Bruce’s resources a significant boost. However, it appears that those feeling that it may be the right time for Krafth to move on may be set for disappointment.
