Spurs could see the door open to land RB Leipzig midfielder, Emil Forsberg, after his agent issued the German club with an ultimatum over his player’s contract.
Reports last year claimed Forsberg was on the radar of Jose Mourinho. At the time, it was expected Leipzig would demand around £40m for the Swedish star, who has been a mainstay for the Bundesliga outfit.

However, his time with the club could be coming to an end it seems, with his agent issuing a warning to the German club over Forsberg’s contract.
“Emil will not go into his last contract year. That’s too big a risk and not something we want. If the club have financial problems and cannot secure Emil’s future, then we have to sit down together. Then everything must be on the table. The club must be honest and say that Emil can leave the club,” Hasan Cetinkaya told Bild (via BulliNews)
Forsberg has once again featured regularly this season for Leipzig. He’s scored seven goals in all competitions, providing a further five assists.
However, at 29, the Swede will be looking to cement his future and could well be open to a move to England, should the likes of Spurs reignite their interest.
TBR View: Forsberg has quality and could prove a bargain buy
Leipzig won’t be able to demand the sort of money they wanted last year so Forsberg could be available on the cheap it seems.
He’d be a good signing for Spurs and Mourinho. But at 29, there could be question marks over if the club has perhaps missed his best years.
Forsberg would bring something different, though. He’s excellent in behind the forwards and drifting in from the left. And with Gareth Bale apparently heading back to Madrid, he could well slot in nicely in north London.
