Arsenal are still keen to snap up Juventus defender Daniele Rugani in January, despite the sacking of Unai Emery as first-team manager.
The Gunners finally wielded the axe on the Spaniard after a 2-1 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League.
Freddie Ljungberg has been announced as the interim manager, and work is already underway ahead of the weekend Premier League game with Norwich City.

Managerial changes can sometimes affect clubs’ transfer plans, but the Gunners’ stance appears to be unchanged over Rugani according to Il Bianconero.
Emery might be gone, but apparently that has no bearing and the interest is ‘still alive’.
Rugani has made just one league appearance for Juve this season, with Maurizio Sarri favouring Matthijs de Ligt and Leonardo Bonucci.
TBR’s view – Rugani there for the taking
There should be a decent chance of Arsenal landing Rugani in Januar given his position in the Juventus squad.

Perhaps he will feel excited by the prospect of working under Ljungberg, who stands a reasonable chance of restoring the feel-good factor at the Emirates given his immense popularity.
He will surely feel as though he’d have a lot to offer a defence that is in desperate need of reinforcements.
