Arsenal are set to heavily rotate their side for Thursday’s Europa League match against Bodo/Glimt.

With a packed schedule on the cards ahead of next month’s World Cup, Mikel Arteta will need to manage his squad wisely.

A report from The Evening Standard suggests Reiss Nelson could be in line to play on Thursday.

Nelson last made an Arsenal appearance in August last year, coming off the bench against Brentford in the Premier League.

It’s a match that many Arsenal fans have blocked out of their memory as they fell to a 2-0 defeat.

Nelson went on to join Feyenoord on loan, and helped the Dutch side reach the Europa Conference League final.

He returned to Arsenal in the summer, and Mikel Arteta was keen to give him a chance this season.

However, a thigh injury scuppered his preparations for the season, and he’s only just returned to full fitness.

Nelson to finally make Arsenal appearance

Although Nelson has never been a regular in an Arsenal side, he showed glimpses of his potential last season.

Nelson proved he was comfortable functioning on both wings, and chipped in with a couple of goals too.

Feyenoord manager Arne Slot wasn’t overly impressed with Nelson, saying he expected a ‘higher return’ from Nelson.

“I don’t think he’s much of a goalscorer anyway. I don’t see him doing that much during training either. Slot said.

“I think Reiss is much more of a preparer than a finisher.

“I’m confident he will show he can do better.”

Nelson finally has an opportunity to show what he can do in an Arsenal shirt again as he prepares to make his first appearance this season.

Bodo/Glimt will be no pushovers, having narrowly missed out on qualifying for the Champions League.

However, the ‘electrifying’ Nelson knows he needs to perform well for Arteta to consider rotating his very settled front line.
