Report: Ek remains committed to Arsenal takeover despite realistic chance of no European football

Daniel Ek still remains committed to buying Arsenal football club off of Stan Kroenke, the owner of Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, despite the club’s exit from the Europa League on Thursday evening.

According to Sky Sports, the fact Gunners face the threat of no European football at al for next season has no bearing on the proposed takeover bid.

However, the Kroenke’s are standing firm in their bid to keep a hold of the outfit and have claimed they will not sell the club now or in the near future.

The Gunners were humiliated in the Europa League earlier this week as they were dumped by Villarreal, who are managed by former boss Unai Emery. The Yellow Submarines 2-1 victory from the first-leg was enough to secure the Spanish side’s pathway to the final after a dismal 0-0 draw at the Emirates Stadium.

TBR View: Arsenal’s future hinges on the seriousness of Ek’s takeover bid

Last night wasn’t just the culmination of this season. Quite the contrary, it’s the culmination of years and years of mismanagement by the Kroenke’s and anyone in a position of power at the north London club.

From recruitment to the merry-go-round of executives and scouts, almost everything behind the scenes has been a disaster and has helped the outfit reach this stage in its history.

No European football seems a realistic chance for the Reds, who sit a meagre 9th in the Premier League with just four games left to play. If the club can take a leaf out of Chelsea’s and Liverpool’s book, both of whom launched title challenges with the absence of European football, next campaign can be a sight to behold for anyone associated with the club.

All of this has happened under the stewardship of the American owners who have taken a dim view to anything resembling progress during their time as keepers of the team. Any positivity will have to be sought via Ek, who proves the club’s last chance of returning to their glory days.
