Arsenal starlet Eddie Nketiah could find himself ‘squeezed out’ this summer following the news that the Gunners are nearing a new deal for Folarin Balogun.

The Athletic reports that Balogun is set to sign new terms with Arsenal, putting an end to months of speculation surrounding his future.

But the same report also claims that Nketiah could be the one to suffer given Balogun’s new deal, with the striker set to see his minutes reduced further with Balogun set to commit.

It is expected that Balogun will be given more chances by Mikel Arteta. First-team chances have been pivotal to Balogun not yet agreeing a new deal prior to today, so it would appear the young striker how has some promises from the Gunners boss.

Nketiah, meanwhile, has already drifted down the pecking order a bit this term and with just a year left on his deal this summer, he could well seek a move away in the next window.

TBR View: Nketiah should move on for the sake of his career

It’s just not quite happened for Eddie Nketiah and now the time is coming for him to look for a permanent move. Balogun’s new deal will surely mean he is given more chances, ensuring Nketiah finds himself further down the ladder.

Nketiah is a quality finisher as he’s shown at times with Arsenal and also with the England under-21s. He’d be more than welcomed at a number of clubs, while for Arsenal, he’s a saleable asset who they can get some good cash for.

Mikel Arteta does rate Nketiah, and has previously labelled him ‘extraordinary’.
