Report: Eddie Howe interested in taking Everton job
Everton could turn to Eddie Howe in their search for a new manager, with reports claiming the former Bournemouth man is ‘pushing’ for the job.
Howe has been out of work since leaving Bournemouth. While with the Cherries, he guided them up the leagues and into the Premier League, before cementing their status in the top flight.
The club were relegated at the end of the 19/20 season, when Howe decided the time was right to leave.
Since then, a move to Celtic was close. However, talks with the Bhoys broke down and now The Express claims Howe is interested in the Everton job.
Everton are on the lookout for a new manager after Carlo Ancelotti left last week. The Italian returned to Real Madrid, seemingly out of nowhere.
43-year-old Howe, then, could be a viable option. The likes of Nuno Santo have also been linked, while Duncan Ferguson is said to want the role.
Howe, though, could be an intriguing pick. He’d need to be afforded time to build, but he is certainly respected in the game. Indeed, Sir Alex Ferguson praised him a short while back as well.

“I think he did very well even though he’s relegated it doesn’t mean to say he’s not a good manager, I think he is a good manager.”
Howe to Everton a bold move but one that could pay off long-term
There’s no doubt Howe is a nice man and also a good manager. He did exceptionally well with Bournemouth before just running out of steam.
Whether he can handle some of the big personalities at Goodison remains to be seen. You would expect, if he did join, that Duncan Ferguson would stay on anyway.
But this is an important appointment for Everton. And if they have any sort of feeling Howe isn’t right, then they should back out.
