According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (1/12; page 69), Eberechi Eze was keen to join Tottenham Hotspur before Mauricio Pochettino’s departure, but Jose Mourinho’s arrival has left a large question mark hanging over a potential move.
The Sun on Sunday reports that Pochettino was looking to make a January move for the £20 million-rated Queens Park Rangers star, and Tottenham were at the front of the queue.

However, a bid now appears to be unlikely for the time-being following Pochettino’s exit last month. The Sun on Sunday (1/12; page 69) reports that Mourinho has told his squad that he is not planning to make any signings for now.
The Portuguese is reportedly keen to take his time to assess his squad. And thus, a bid for Eze seems to have been put on ice for now.

TBR View – Are Spurs taking a risk?
Eze has been outstanding so far this season. He has scored seven goals and contributed four assists in the Championship. He already looks to be a class above in the second tier.
It seems highly unlikely that Spurs were the only side planning a January bid for the versatile midfielder. And Mourinho’s reluctance to splash the cash immediately may encourage others to make a move as soon as possible.
Mourinho may have bigger concerns. And Tottenham clearly have a lot of quality in their ranks. But opening the door for their rivals to potentially make their own bid for Eze feels like a potential risk from the Champions League finalists.
