Liverpool have been dealt a blow in their potential pursuit of Dortmund winger, Jadon Sancho.

The England youngster has been in blistering form over in the Bundesliga this season. He’s already scored 12 times for the German giants while also contributing a further 12 assists.

Those numbers are hugely impressive, especially, given that he scored 12 and set up 14 throughout the entire 2018/19 campaign.

Premier League champions-elect, Liverpool, have been linked with a potential move for the 19-year-old.

However, Dortmund sporting director, Michael Zorc, appears calm when it comes to talks of Sancho moving away from the German club this summer.

“The fact is no other club has contacted us so far about Jadon,” he said. (90mins.com)

“[I can’t] reliably answer today [if Sancho will stay at Dortmund beyond the summer]. What I can say for sure is that he feels very comfortable with us. Otherwise, he could not produce such [high-level] performances week after week.”

Those comments from Zorc would appear to suggest Sancho is happy in Germany. Furthermore, it would also appear that no clubs have actually solidified any interest.

Sancho will be hoping to play for England in Euro 2020 this summer. After breaking into the XI under Gareth Southgate, the teenager’s form has further propelled him into the reckoning this term.

Liverpool are at a point where any signing they make in the summer will be a big one. It will have to be someone with the quality and potential to impact things immediately and in the future for the Reds.

Sancho, then, is ideal for Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Mo Salah and Sadio Mane are fine players in their own right. But when either of those is missing, there does appear to be a gaping hole in the Liverpool team.

Sancho would solve those issues. It would, as well, give Jurgen Klopp the chance to change things up when it comes to his attacking trio.

If Liverpool are to sign big in the summer, then raiding Dortmund for Jadon Sancho has to be something they consider.
