Pep Guardiola looks set to be in for further disappointment as Mikel Arteta seemingly closes in on taking the Arsenal job, with the Daily Mail reporting that Domenec Torrent is likely to join him at the Emirates.
The Daily Mail reports that Arteta is set to sign a three-and-a-half year deal with the Gunners, with the 37-year-old set to earn £5 million a year.
And it appears that some familiar faces are going to form part of his backroom team.
The Mail reports that Rodolfo Borrell is likely to make the same move as Arteta, while Torrent could also head to North London.
And it may be a significant blow for Guardiola to see Torrent head to Arsenal. The 57-year-old has worked with Guardiola at Barcelona, Bayern Munich and City.
He had left the Premier League champions in 2018 to take the New York City job. But it appears that Guardiola had been eyeing a reunion with Arteta linked with a move away.
The Sun reported earlier this month that Guardiola wanted to bring Torrent back to the Etihad Stadium if Arteta left.
But this latest report seemingly suggests that Arteta may be rivalling Guardiola for Torrent. And it would appear that the Arsenal-linked boss may be the one to add him to his team.
