The Daily Express have claimed that Liverpool may be about to suffer another injury blow to one of their most in-form stars in striker Diogo Jota – after the Reds ace scored a hat-trick against Atalanta on Tuesday night.
Jota, 23, took his tally to seven goals in 10 Liverpool outings with a stunning hat-trick against Atalanta. The first, a beautiful chip over the goalkeeper after an excellent past from Trent Alexander-Arnold to open the scoring.
The Portugal international made it two with a brilliant first touch that saw him cut inside, and then a powerful effort into the bottom corner. A third came, largely thanks to a delicious pass from Sadio Mane.

Mane and Mo Salah also got their names on the score sheet in what was a superb night for Liverpool in Italy. Next up for Jurgen Klopp’s side is Manchester City – with Pep Guardiola’s side expected to present their main title challenge.
However, Liverpool’s excellent night may have been soured some what. Jota was taken off in the 65th minute and the Express report that the former Wolves man may have suffered a dead leg, which could put him in doubt for Sunday.
Footage showed Jota hobbling off the pitch, accompanied by a Liverpool medical. He was replaced by Roberto Firmino, with many calling for Jota to start over the Brazilian more often. The the in-form star may now be injured.
