Leeds United fans have been waiting for some time to hear of official confirmation regarding Laurens De Bock’s exit from the club.
Now, a report in Croatia has reported why the deal has seemingly stalled.
Index are reporting that Dinamo Zagreb want to sign former left-back Luis ‘Lucho’ Ibanez. He is a free agent having left Trabzonspor but they have competition. It seems Aris are also keen on the Argentine.
The report goes on to suggest that De Bock’s transfer has been held up due to the departure of Aris’ sporting director.
Aris are now weighing up whether to go for Ibanez or sign De Bock. The report claims that the Greek side’s president wants to sign the Belgian, whilst manager Savvas Pantelidis is keener on Lucho. A decision was reportedly set to be made yesterday.
De Bock himself spoke to fansite All About Aris over the weekend. He made it clear that a deal to join the Super League side was just days away.
His words backed up up a report from Leeds Live which stated that the left-back’s move was ‘imminent’. Ethnos, a local source in Thessaloniki, also reported that an announcement was ‘just a matter of time’.
Leeds United will simply want to get De Bock off the books. The Belgian has no future at Elland Road under Marcelo Bielsa and his wages are simply burning a hole in the pocket of Andrea Radrizzani.
Hopefully, the Greek side decide to go with De Bock over Ibanez. If not, Leeds will have to find a new suitor for the forgotten 26-year-old.
