The Evening Times share what Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson thinks of Giovanni van Bronckhorst – and a potential return to Ibrox.
Van Bronckhorst, 46, has emerged as a serious contender to take over from Steven Gerrard at Rangers. It comes after Gerrard left to join Aston Villa.
The Dutchman of course, is a bit of an icon at Rangers – winning two Scottish Premiership titles in the three years he spent at Ibrox.
Clocking up 117 outings between 1998 and 2001, the ex-Arsenal and Barcelona man scored 22 goals – winning five trophies in total.
Numerous reports state he is on the Rangers radar, and is even first choice. It is also claimed he is keen on a return, given it suits his family’s needs.
Now, the GET say Wilson sees van Bronckhorst as a “prominent figure” in the search for a boss It is said Wilson is looking to “avoid disruption.”

Wilson stance on van Bronckhorst should encourage Rangers fans
Many Rangers fans have already been sold on van Bronckhorst. He seems like the ideal fit, given his brilliant start to life as a manager.
He won five trophies in four seasons at Feyenoord – boasting an attacking style that also is solid in defence. Much like Gerrard’s Rangers.
The Gers recorded losses north of £20million and that means they will have to look for a manager out of work – to avoid paying a club compensation.
Out of work, an exciting manager, with trophies in the cabinet and a Rangers past – it makes utter sense to bring van Bronckhorst to Rangers.
