Report details the exact reason why Marcelo Bielsa dropped Pablo Hernandez

A report in Spain has highlighted exactly why Marcelo Bielsa did not call upon Pablo Hernandez for the recent clash with Crystal Palace and was it indeed for his reaction at being subbed off against Leicester City.

“I evaluate all the players for the upcoming game and I didn’t pick him for this game,” Bielsa informed BBC West Yorkshire Sport at the weekend. “The decision may seem strange but I choose the 18 players who I feel are most apt for the game.”

But it seems it was a specific action that Bielsa decided to punish Hernandez for. La Vanguardia is reporting that Bielsa was furious with Hernandez for throwing a black armband being worn in commemoration of Armistice Day down in disgust at the decision to pull him from the field, rather than the kicking of a water bottle.

They report that this action ‘annoyed’ Bielsa who felt it contradicted the ‘club’s values’ as well as challenging his own authority.

Of course, Hernandez has recently come out and apologised for his actions but it remains to be seen if he will be immediately recalled to first-team action by the Leeds United boss.

Hernandez is a favourite of the Argentine’s but injuries have seen him have a stop-start season so far in the Premier League and this latest incident has surely not helped matters.

But Leeds fans will hope that the indiscretion is now behind him and Hernandez can play a big role in the Whites fight to remain in the Premier League.
