Report details stance of Erik Ten Hag on Tottenham job, Ajax boss is still in the frame
Football London report that Mauricio Pochettino is not the only manager Tottenham are in talks with, ahead of the summer. While it is huge news that Pochettino could be brought back to North London by Daniel Levy, Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag remains a target. Now, the stance of Ten Hag on the Tottenham job has been revealed.
Ten Hag, 51, signed a contract extension at Ajax in April which will keep him at the Dutch club until the summer of 2023. But despite that, Spurs are still interested in Ten Hag and it is claimed that talks have been staged with him. It is also claimed that Ten Hag would be open to joining Spurs.
Such a move would mean that Ajax’s extension would only have been completed in order to increase the compensation. Weeks after winning the Eredivisie and an extension, Ten Hag could still join Tottenham – but Pochettino and others are on the list.
Ten Hag stance brilliant news for Tottenham, Bale and Son would benefit
As would Harry Kane, if he remains. That is because Ten Hag is an incredibly attacking manager – focused on progressive play from back to front. He has taught Ajax to score more goals than the opposition, rather than focusing on clean sheets. In 167 Ajax games, his side have scored 448.
That is well over 2.5 goals a game. Bringing in Ten Hag would benefit Tottenham’s attackers – with Bale showing he works better under an attacking boss. Brilliant, but Pochettino will be preferred.
