A report from Italian website CalcioMercato suggests Tottenham have received a boost in pursuit of Cristian Romero. Fabio Paratici is working tirelessly to bring Romero to Tottenham. Now, Atalanta are looking at replacements – in the form of Augsburg ace Felix Uduokhai.
Much like many other reports, The Mail claim that Tottenham’s move to sign Romero hinges on a transfer fee. If Tottenham can agree a fee with Atalanta for Romero, then Atalanta will push through a permanent deal for the Copa America winner. That looks even more likely to happen, now.
A report from CM says that Atalanta have identified the man they want to replace Romero. It is Augsburg colossus Uduokhai, who is currently with Germany’s Olympics squad in Tokyo. He would cost just £12.75million, but there is a chance Jose Mourinho could have his say, too.

Why Mourinho could have say in Tottenham pursuit of Romero – as Atalanta eye Uduokhai
It is easy to see why Romero is a target for Spurs after winning Serie A defender of the season last term. So, replacing him is key. Atalanta want Uduokhai, who has even scored at the Olympics this summer. But Mourinho could have his say, and throw a spanner in the Romero works.
That is because CM also claim Atalanta are not alone in pursuit of Uduokhai – with Mourinho and Roma also considering a move. If Mourinho wins the race to sign the three-time Germany international, Atalanta may stall a deal to find another replacement, affecting Romero and Tottenham.
