A report from the Daily Mail has shed some more light on Newcastle United’s apparent interest in QPR midfield prodigy Eberechi Eze.

It was recently reported by The Chronicle that Newcastle United are keen on a potential move for the player, with Head of Recruitment Steve Nickson a big fan.

The report also claimed that Newcastle’s potential new owners were on board with the deal and that seems to be underscored by a recent report from The Mail.

The report claims that current QPR director Jamie Reuben could end up on the board of directors should Newcastle’s Saudi-backed takeover go ahead. His family is set to take a 10 percent stake in the Tyneside club.

The Mail claim that Reuben has been ‘wowed’ by Eze’s displays for QPR in the Championship this season and that his influence in a potential deal for Eze should ‘not be underestimated’.

TBR’s View – Eze money

A move for Eze would be the perfect start to Newcastle’s new regime. The talented youngster would represent a signature for the future and a potentially long-term star in the Newcastle United first-team.

A report from The Sun earlier this year placed QPR’s valuation for Eze in the £20 million region, easily affordable for Newcastle should the takeover go ahead.

Now, the links with Reuben just give Newcastle an extra secret weapon in their pursuit of the 21-year-old talent.
