Leeds United reportedly discussed a potential summer transfer move for Norwegian talent Jens Petter Hauge in the last summer transfer window, before he made his move to AC Milan.

As reported by The Athletic’s resident Leeds guru Phil Hay, the talented winger had been on Leeds radar after impressing at previous club Bodo/Glimt

Leeds reportedly wanted Hauge to take a tour of Elland Road but any interest from the Whites soon evaporated into insignificance as soon as AC Milan got their claws into the talent.

CalcioMercato even reported that Leeds were at the front of the queue to secure his services in September.

However, the 21-year-old signed for the Italian giants at the start of October for a reported £3.5 million (as reported by Fabrizio Romano) and was expected to have to bide his time before making an impact with the Rossoneri.

However, that has not been the case.

Leeds fans will be watching on with immense envy now as the talented attacker has thrived in Milan, helping the fallen giants scramble their way back atop their beanstalk in recent weeks.

Hauge has scored four goals for Milan so far this season and, in the Europa League, in particular, has impressed with his close dribbling ability and deceptive pace.

Such form saw Hauge compared favourably to Lionel Messi by fans whilst Milan legend and commentator Carlo Pellegatti told Tuttomercatoweb that Hauge reminds him of Tottenham Hotspur’s in-form star Heung-min Son.

Milan have their hands on something of a gem at a bargain cost. Unfortunately for Leeds, it appears their interest just came a tad too late to beat Milan to the punch.
