The Scotsman claim that Jota would be ‘open’ to joining Celtic on a permanent £7million move from Benfica – as his superb form continues.

The 22-year-old has sparkled as one of Ange Postecoglou’s best signings, along with Joe Hart and Kyogo Furuhashi. £7million is a lot of money.

But having clocked up 15 appearances for Celtic, he has produced 12 goal involvements. Scoring six, the Portugal Under-21 star has also created six.

He has formed a brilliant partnership with Kyogo, as well as Liel Abada – who has gone under the radar, but still has 12 goal involvements this term.

The Scotsman say Celtic have a permanent clause in his contract, worth £7million. Now, the report details the stance of the versatile attacker.

It is said he is willing to join Celtic for two reasons. The first, he is delighted to be at Celtic and enjoying life. Secondly, game time is limited at Benfica.

Jota to Celtic: Massive resale value must convince Celtic to move

Jota has been excellent. But what is surprising, is just how influential he has been. His goals and assists have come at crucial times, in big games.

He is doing at 22, in a completely different country, with a game every three days. Unselfish, but bags of quality in the final third.

What should convince Celtic to spend the required £7million is that Jota is just 22. Three seasons of similar form, they could triple the outlay.

Signing Jota improves Celtic on the pitch enormously. But in a few years, it would improve the Hoops just as much, off of it.
