CalcioMercato report that Newcastle will end up paying £17million to sign Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid. The report also states that Newcastle will hand the defender a contract until the summer of 2025.
Trippier, 31, potentially waved goodbye to Atletico Madrid fans on Sunday. The England defender remained on the pitch, by himself, after a 2-0 win over Rayo Vallecano to applaud his supporters – after 86 outings for Atleti.
It has been a brilliant spell in Spain for Trippier – winning the La Liga title last season following his move from Tottenham in 2019. But the Euro 2020 finalist has made it clear he wants a return to English football.
Now, it appears he is on his way back to the Premier League – with Newcastle. CM say that Newcastle will pay £17million and hand Trippier a contract until the summer of 2025. Trippier is 35 in September 2025.

Trippier to Newcastle: A good deal for the Toon’s new owners?
Trippier is a brilliant defender and one of England’s best right-backs. While he has endured tricky spells of form, especially towards the end of his spell at Tottenham – he is getting better with age.
His experience, his set-piece ability, his leadership and his versatility as a right wing-back or on the right of a four makes him a proper signing. He is worth £17million, but is the contract slightly too long? Time will tell.
