Aston Villa’s reported plan to try and convince Pione Sisto into a Villa Park move have been revealed by a report in Spain.

As reported by Faro de Vigo, Aston Villa made a €10 million (£9m) transfer bid for the 21-cap Danish international in the summer.

It seems that his club, Celta Vigo, were open to the sale but he turned down the move.

The report claims that Aston Villa were ready to take Sisto on a tour of Birmingham to try and charm him into a move. However, Sisto was adamant about staying with the La Liga club and fighting for his place in the first-team picture.

The erratic winger also had interest from the likes of Mexican side Tigres, Saint-Etienne and Torino.

Aston Villa spent big to improve their squad this summer and wide players were certainly on their wanted list. In the end, they managed to secure the signing of Egyptian international Trezeguet from Kasimpasa and the permanent signing of Lille loanee Anwar El Ghazi.

The report detailing Aston Villa’s offer of a tour now suggests that Sisto will be partially involved in first-team proceedings at Celta but can expect to be used marginally going forward.

So perhaps Aston Villa will be showing Sisto round the Bull Ring in January.
