Dele Alli has been left out of Tottenham Hotspur’s squad to face Lokomotiv Plovdiv in their Europa League qualifier on Thursday.
That’s according to The Daily Mail, who claim Jose Mourinho will not give the English midfielder a chance to redeem himself after his weekend performance against Everton.
The 24-year-old was substituted off at half-time as the Portuguese sought to change things tactically.
Alli’s exclusion from the squad to face Plovdiv will only fuel the fire about the player’s future, with reports claiming he could be off to Real Madrid on loan.
The Mail do say that a move to the Spanish giants is unlikely, however.
The Alli to Madrid links come amid mounting speculation that Gareth Bale is set to re-sign for the north Londoners on loan.
TBR’s View – Something isn’t right
It is a surprise to learn that Alli will not travel with the squad to face Bulgarian side Plovdiv.
One might have expected him to feature in the game in order to try and get some form started after his disappointment at the weekend.
It perhaps suggests that all isn’t totally well behind the scenes.
It would be remarkable to see Alli depart Tottenham on loan given how he started his career with the club, and the next few weeks are going to be very interesting indeed.
