DC United are to hold talks with Arsenal star Mesut Ozil’s entourage, as claimed by The Mirror.
The US outfit will be losing Wayne Rooney in January, who on Tuesday agreed to take up a player-coach role at Derby County (BBC Sport).

Parties from both sides are set to meet in Washington next week for ‘exploratory discussions’, with Arsenal open to offers for the £350,000-a-week player (BBC Sport).
Ozil has shown some great form in pre-season, but had a poor 2018/19 in which he couldn’t nail down a starting XI spot under Unai Emery.
The former Germany international has not always been able to convince the masses, and has been accused of ‘going missing’ in big games.
Ozil leaving for DC United would be a major shock, despite exit talk having been fairly frequent this summer
TBR’s view
The biggest problem with Ozil is the contract that was negotiated for him in January 2018.

His astronomical wages undoubtedly make him a bigger target than others when things aren’t going so well.
There is no chance he can get away with a few quiet games here and there, and the scrutiny is intense.
The 30-year-old is a sublime player on his day, but his weekly earnings really do make it hard for him to warrant being kept.
It has to be said though, a move to DC United is surely highly unlikely given the potential costs involved for the MLS club.
