Italian website CalcioMercato claim that Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez wants to leave the north London club in January after falling down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho – with AC Milan linked.
Sanchez, 24, joined Tottenham in 2017 after impressing in the Europa League final for Ajax against Manchester United. He has clocked up 117 appearances in his first three seasons – but this time around, he has struggled for regular game time.
The Colombia international was first choice to begin with, starting and finishing the four Premier League matches after the 1-0 loss to Everton. But since then, he has only managed to make the bench once in their following six matches.
Sanchez has played more in Europe, playing seven times – three in qualifying and four in the group stage. Against Chelsea with Toby Alderweireld missing, Mourinho handed Joe Rodon his debut instead of turning to Sanchez.
The defender still has four years left on his £65,000-a-week contract, but he has recently been linked with a move to Serie A leaders AC Milan (Sun). Now, the latest report claims Sanchez wants a move – and is keen to leave Spurs in the January window.

TBR’s view – Tottenham still want to sign a central defender
Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar continues to be linked with Tottenham after Mourinho missed out on the Slovakian ace in the summer. Even without Skriniar, Sanchez is Tottenham’s fourth-choice centre-back – while Japhet Tanganga is close, too.
Rodon, Eric Dier and Alderweireld are all ahead of Sanchez and while Tanganga is still up and coming – Spurs would surely sell Sanchez before Tanganga given the latter’s homegrown status. Even without the signing of Skriniar, Sanchez should leave.
