Davie Selke has reportedly handed in a transfer request amid speculation linking him with a potential move to Newcastle United or Aston Villa.
According to German publication Bild, the Hertha Berlin striker is taking measures to ensure he gets a move away from the club on transfer deadline.
The 25-year-old has just one goal and one assist to his name this season, having bagged 14 in 2018/19.

Apparently the 6ft 4in German wants to leave the club ‘as soon as possible’.
The Bundesliga outfit have just signed Krzysztof Piatek from AC Milan, and that is likely to have repercussions for Selke in terms of regular game time.
The Poland international is highly likely to go straight into the starting XI, meaning there’s a reasonable chance of a deadline day exit for Selke.
Bild reported yesterday that Villa and Newcastle were two of five teams interested in Selke.
TBR’s view – Selke is a risk for Villa and Newcastle
Villa and Newcastle could well be tempted now following reports of Selke’s transfer request, but either side signing him would be a big gamble.

Both teams need a goalscorer, and Selke’s record in front of goal this term has been poor.
One goal is not a good return, and he’s also managed to average just one shot per 90 according to WhoScored, which is a bit disappointing.
He has won 3.9 aerial dues which is to be expected given his height, but his lack of potency this season should see Villa and Newcastle think twice.
