David Raya is considering submitting a transfer request at Brentford to try and force through a move to Arsenal this summer, according to a report from the Daily Mail.
The Daily Mail reports that the Gunners are looking at Raya as they consider Emiliano Martinez’s future at the Emirates.
And the Mail notes that the Spaniard wants to make the switch to the Emirates. However, it is suggested that the Bees are unwilling to consider letting the goalkeeper move on this summer.
And it is suggested by the Mail that Raya is now prepared to hand in a transfer request to try and boost his chances of sealing a switch to North London.
TBR View: Raya taking risk with transfer request
It is potentially a gamble for Raya to submit a transfer request. Arsenal will presumably only come calling if they decide to let Martinez leave the club this summer.
Meanwhile, Ollie Watkins’s move to Aston Villa arguably hints that Raya will not come cheap by any means.
The Guardian reported that the forward has cost the Villans £28 million, while the fee could rise further in the future.
It is a fantastic piece of business from Brentford. And, while it remains to be seen what their asking price for Raya may be, Arsenal may be wary of what it may take to get a deal done for their target.
