Report: David Raya excited by Arsenal links; but Brentford unwilling to consider sale

David Raya is said to be incredibly excited about the possibility of joining Arsenal this summer, but The Telegraph suggests that the Gunners have a major stumbling block to clear.

The Telegraph reports that Arsenal have taken an interest in Raya amid uncertainty over Emiliano Martinez’s future at the Emirates.

Martinez is currently vying with Bernd Leno for the number spot. The Argentinian staked his claim with some inspired form towards the latter stages of last season.

The Telegraph reports that Mikel Arteta is yet to decide who his number one will be for the coming campaign. But it perhaps telling that they have their eye on a potential replacement as they seemingly anticipate a possible exit.

The Telegraph adds that Raya is incredibly excited about the links with Arsenal. However, there appears to be a big problem for Arteta to contend with.

The report claims that Brentford are not willing to even enter negotiations over selling their £3 million signing.

It is good news for Arsenal that Raya is seemingly keen on joining the Gunners. But Brentford’s reported stance will certainly make life difficult for Arteta’s men.

There will, of course, be a figure that the Bees will eventually be willing to sell for. But Arsenal may need to weigh up whether meeting that price is worthwhile as it is seemingly going to take a big bite out of their transfer budget.
