Report: David Moyes to sign new West Ham deal next week
David Moyes is set to sign a new three-year contract with West Ham United next week, according to a report from The Sun.
Had Hammers supporters been told after the opening game of the campaign that Moyes would end the season by earning a new deal, they would have been forgiven for fearing that he may have been tasked with leading the side back out of the Championship.
However, since that dreadful defeat to Newcastle, West Ham have been a revelation. Remarkably, they could still finish fifth in the Premier League this season.
For much of the campaign, they were genuine contenders to make next year’s Champions League.
So it is little surprise to see what piece of business the West Ham owners are looking to get on with first once the season concludes.
According to The Sun, Moyes is set to sign a new three-year contract. It is noted that his current terms are set to expire in the coming weeks.
TBR View: Vital board back Moyes in the market this summer
The problem Moyes now faces is the fact that the expectations have risen. West Ham have shown that they can be as good as any side in the division when they are at their best.
It is imperative that the board now back Moyes in the market. Several of his signings have proved to be masterstrokes. And West Ham look to have a fantastic opportunity to build something special off the back of this year.
