The Daily Mail reports that Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy will definitely not be giving Antonio Conte a big pay rise – despite ‘wild’ rumours.

Conte’s contract with Spurs is set to run out at the end of this season, raising fresh uncertainty over his future.

The Italian only took over in north London last November but put pen to paper on a short-term contract.

The Telegraph recently reported that Spurs are ready to open talks with Conte over a new deal and the club do have an option to extend his current deal by 12-months.

Levy definitely not giving Conte big pay rise

In the most recent update, the Mail reports that Levy is not prepared to offer the head coach a massive pay rise to remain at Spurs.

The outlet claims that those in the know at Spurs have described rumours that the club will offer Conte a £20 million salary as ‘wild’.

The Italian is already one of the best paid managers in England and earns £13 million each year.

It is more likely that Levy could be assessing other managerial options just in case he cannot find an agreement with Conte.

TBR View: Levy needs to do everything within his power to keep Conte happy

There have been some groans over Conte’s style of play this season, but there’s no doubt that the Italian represents Tottenham’s best chance of lifting a trophy.

The former Inter Milan boss only took over just under a year ago and has already propelled Spurs back into the Champions League.

It’s easy to forget that he has only been in charge for two transfer windows and will need more time to build a team in his vision.

Conte has already called for patience and that is exactly what he needs from the Spurs faithful. But Levy will have to ensure he sticks around long enough to make a real impact in north London.
