Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is reportedly reluctant to let Dele Alli leave this month amid renewed interest from Paris Saint-Germain, according to The Telegraph.

The 24-year-old has made just five starts for Spurs in 2020-21 and has twice been replaced at half-time, coming off against Everton in the Premier League and Antwerp in the Europa League.

Just before Christmas, Jose Mourinho gave Alli his first start since 26 November in Tottenham’s League Cup quarter-final tie at Stoke.

However, the Spurs boss took him off in the 66th minute and criticised him after the game, accusing him of “creating problems for his own team” for his role in the opposition’s goal.

Since then, Alli has once again been left on the bench, not featuring against Wolves, Leeds or Brentford.

And according to The Telegraph, PSG – now with former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino at the helm – have put together a new move to try and sign the England international on loan.

The report adds that Tottenham may not wish to sanction a loan move quickly, with Giovani Lo Celso and Gareth Bale currently injured, and the club would want to be sure the duo do not suffer any setbacks.

In addition, Levy apparently still believes that Alli could regain his best form and be a big asset for Spurs, though at the same time, will be aware that he’ll be well looked after and given plenty of opportunities under Pochettino.

TBR View:

While Alli may have struggled for form at times, the talent and quality is there, as shown by his impressive displays against the likes of Manchester United and Maccabi Haifa.

However, it looks as though Mourinho has lost patience with the £100,000-a-week playmaker and there’s an increasing risk that he’s not going to get many more chances at the club as things stand.

Levy might appear to rate Alli highly but if the manager doesn’t, and there’s an opportunity for the player to link up once again with Pochettino, it’s a no-brainer really.
