Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is convinced that Spurs academy ace Troy Parrott can go on to save the club millions in the transfer window, according to a report in The Telegraph.
The 18-year-old striker is one of the most highly rated players in the Spurs academy, with three first-team appearances and a further three spots on the bench, not to mention a senior Republic of Ireland cap.
Despite calls for Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho to give Parrott more game time amid the club’s crisis up front, the Portuguese has repeatedly stated that the youngster is not ready to be thrown in at the deep end.

Parrott certainly has the makings of a player who could go on to great things with the right guidance and, according to The Telegraph, Levy is “convinced” that in the long run, the Republic of Ireland international can save the club millions.
With Tottenham seemingly looking to be a self-sustaining club for future generations under Levy’s watch, the chairman is also reportedly set to ask Mourinho to keep giving academy players chances, having been pleased at seeing Harry Winks captain Spurs against Wolves, plus Japhet Tanganga making his breakthrough.
TBR View:
Parrott is undoubtedly a talented player who has lit up the youth divisions as the number nine for Tottenham’s age-group sides, and though it may be too soon to know whether he can go on to become the next Harry Kane, the makings of a great player are there.
It’s always great when homegrown youngsters work their way up from the academy to senior level and become essential first-team players, and as seen with the likes of Winks and Tanganga, plus obviously Kane, it’s a sensible long-term strategy – though in the short to mid-term, Tottenham clearly could do with ready-made acquisitions.
