Report: Crystal Palace will sell Christian Benteke for just £8m, want to fund move for Ismaila Sarr

Crystal Palace are looking to sell Christian Benteke this summer as they look to fund a move for Watford flyer, Ismaila Sarr.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, the Eagles are finally ready to move Benteke on, after the striker scored just six times in three seasons for them.

Benteke’s spell at Selhurst Park has been bitterly disappointing given he cost the club a whopping £27m, according to the BBC.

His paltry goal return has been overshadowed somewhat by the fact Palace have managed to consistently stay in the league, while Benteke has, in fairness, played his part in a three-prong attack spearheaded by Wilfried Zaha.

But his time with the club appears to be coming to an end now. Palace wants just £8m for the big striker, who earns £120k-a-week according to the same report from the Mail.

Selling Benteke is not the worst decision the club will ever make. His time with the club hasn’t been great, to say the least.

However, they’ll still need someone to plug the gap and be their main man leading the line. Even if they sign Sarr, he is a winger, so the club will need someone in Benteke’s mould to progress.

Hopefully, the big Belgian gets another PL move and can try and get back to the form he showed prior to moving to Liverpool.

If he can do that, then he could prove a bargain buy for a top-flight outfit.
