Report: Crystal Palace, West Ham and Bournemouth all want Liverpool star

Goal have claimed that Premier League trio West Ham United, Crystal Palace and AFC Bournemouth are all interested in signing Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne this summer – with the right-back out of contract in June.

Clyne, 29, last played for Liverpool in December 2018 after returning from a previous long-term knee injury. However, the former Southampton right-back suffered a similar injury during last summer’s pre-season tour of the United States.

Now, the 14-time England international is out of contract at Liverpool and is unlikely to remain at the club given he has not featured once this season – and Trent Alexander-Arnold remains firmly the club’s first-choice right-back.

The report claims that with Clyne available on a free, West Ham and Palace are keen on luring the defender to London while Bournemouth – who had Clyne on loan for the second half of the 2018-19 season – want to re-sign him.

TBR’s view – West Ham is the best move for Clyne this summer

Certainly, Clyne would be first choice at the London Stadium. Pablo Zabaleta is in a similar position to Clyne in that his contract is due to expire in the summer, while Ryan Fredericks has struggled in east London since his move from Fulham.

Bringing Clyne to West Ham would be somewhat risky given his recent injury history and what is likely to be an expensive contract, but on a free, he could solve David Moyes’ right-back concerns over the next few months.
