Crystal Palace have joined the hunt for in-demand Schalke defender, Ozan Kabak, according to a report from the Daily Mail.
Roy Hodgson is apparently desperate to bring in new defenders to help his ageing backline, and is now said to have joined the likes of Leicester and Manchester United in the hunt for Kabak.
Liverpool, too, have held a strong interest in the Turkish defender, with reports from Mail claiming the Reds have been keen on a deal.
Kabak is expected to leave Schalke this summer after building a reputation as one of the games more promising up and coming central defenders. Still just 20, the £25m-rated defender has plenty of time to hone his craft further in the game.
The report from the Mail claims Liverpool have now moved onto other targets, which could well give Palace and others the encouragement needed to go all out and pursue Kabak this month.
A clear talent, would be a coup for Palace – TBR View
Given the names said to be interested in Kabak, that’s all you can describe it as if Palace did land the defender.
He looks a real prospect and could already be ready to play Premier League minutes in all honesty. But with big clubs circling, Palace would need to move fast to secure his signature.
At least Liverpool appear to have stepped aside, although they’ve yet to add a defender of their own so they can’t be fully ruled out.
