Report: Crystal Palace want 23-year-old machine, West Ham and Rodgers also linked
Patrick Vieira looks set to try and strengthen his Crystal Palace squad with the signing of Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard, according to The Telegraph. There has been plenty of speculation over the player’s future this summer, with the Eagles the latest club to show interest.
Celtic are keen to sell the striker before the transfer window closes. Leicester, West Ham, Wolves and Brighton have all previously been linked with the 23-year-old.
Edouard is in the final year of his deal at Parkhead. If he doesn’t leave the club for a transfer fee during this window, the Hoops run the risk of him going for nothing next year.
The striker has scored twice for Celtic this season and has largely been a goal machine since signing for the club for £10 million in 2018.
Celtic will want to make a profit on their player. Palace meanwhile are keen to strengthen their attacking ranks after a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea on the opening day of the season.
In 175 appearances for Celtic, he has scored 85 goals and claimed 39 assists. Given the money, the club will want for Celtic, Edouard could prove a useful addition for Crystal Palace.
Vieira could complete coup by taking Edouard to Palace
Of course, the Premier League is tougher than the SPL but that doesn’t mean someone like Edouard can’t thrive in the English top-flight.
He is powerful, clinical in and around the box and at 23 he has bags of time left to get even better.
Vieira could do with a striker adding to his ranks and Edouard would perhaps be an ideal player to pursue. It’s typically a good sign when lots of clubs are keen and that’s certainly the case with Edouard.
Palace will want to quickly forget their opening day disaster and Edouard has the ability to lead the Eagles to a solid campaign.
