Report: Crystal Palace to make £15m bid for Leeds target Conor Gallagher
Crystal Palace are looking to steal a march on their Premier League rivals, with The Sun on Sunday (13/6; page 63) reporting that the Eagles plan to make a £15 million bid for Conor Gallagher, who has been linked with the likes of Leeds United and Newcastle.
Gallagher enjoyed another impressive year out on loan. Unfortunately, he was unable to help West Brom stay up.
But he did do well. And it appears that he is now attracting a lot of attention as he makes his way back to Chelsea.
Recent reports suggested that Palace, Leeds and the Magpies all want the 21-year-old.
But the Eagles look set to make the first move. According to The Sun on Sunday (13/6; page 63), they will make a £15 million bid for the midfielder.
It is noted that Palace are also interested in former Blues boss Frank Lampard as they continue their search for Roy Hodgson’s successor.
However, Gallagher may need some convincing. The report suggests that the youngster wants to make the grade at Stamford Bridge.
Could Palace bid reports tempt Leeds and Newcastle into action in Conor Gallagher race?
It will be interesting to see whether Leeds or Newcastle act amid reports Palace are set to make a bid for Gallagher.
The starlet looks to be a real talent, and he should only get better in the coming years.
And at £15 million, there could be scope for an inspired move to take place – if he is open to leaving Chelsea.
As things stand, it seems Gallagher is not planning to move. But he faces a huge task trying to force his way into Thomas Tuchel’s plans.
Palace look set to be the first side to knock on the door this summer, judging by the reports.
Perhaps Leeds and Newcastle may look to join them in case it is soon too late.
