Crystal Palace have entered the race to sign Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish, according to The Daily Mail.

Grealish has played an influential role in Aston Villa’s recent resurgence, captaining his side to 10 consecutive wins to secure a play-off spot.

The 23-year-old operates as an attacking midfielder and has scored six goals and provided six assists this season.

Since returning from injury, Grealish has taken his game to the next level and he is the talisman spearheading the promotion bid.

But this has unsurprisingly caught the attention of top-flight clubs. Crystal Palace are the latest team to show an interest in the midfield star.

The Eagles, who sit 12th in the league, see Grealish as a potential replacement for Wilfried Zaha. Roy Hodgson will allow Zaha to leave Selhurst Park for £80m this summer.

And Grealish, who is a long-term target for Tottenham Hotspur (The Mirror), could be brought in with that money.

If Aston Villa win promotion via the play-offs, Grealish will surely stay with his boyhood club. He is loved by the fans and he plays with passion for his local team.

But if the Villan stay in the Championship, a move could be on the cards. Gareth Southgate has told Grealish he needs to be playing Premier League football to be selected for England (The Telegraph).

His international ambitions could lead him to Crystal Palace, Tottenham or another Premier League side if Aston Villa fail to go up.
