Report: Crystal Palace in talks to sign Ryan Sessegnon, Tottenham yet to make bid

Love Sport Radio have claimed that Crystal Palace have made a surprise move to sign Fulham wonderkid Ryan Sessegnon and are in talks to do so, while Tottenham Hotspur are yet to even table an offer.

Sessegnon, 19, has just 12 months remaining on his current contract and has told the west London club that he is keen to leave this summer – with the Guardian reporting Fulham’s offer of a renewal has been rejected.

The England youth international is one of the country’s brightest talents, after scoring 15 goals and laying on six assists in 46 Championship matches during Fulham’s 2017-18 promotion to the top flight.

But last season, Sessegnon only managed 26 appearances – scoring just two goals. Crystal Palace are said to have opened talks with Fulham over a move, while Spurs are yet to even express an interest.

Liverpool and Inter Milan are thought to also be interested in Sessegnon, who is valued at a whopping £45million by Fulham. Tottenham, meanwhile, are said to only want to offer £25million for Sessegnon’s services.

TBR’s view

Tottenham have been linked with a move for Sessegnon even before his sparkling 17-18 form came about. It will be hugely painful for Spurs fans to see Daniel Levy spurn another potential deal.

Yes, Sessegnon is on the expensive side at £45million, but if a compromise can be met, Spurs will boast a future England regular and a player that has the potential to light up the Premier League for years.

However, their lack of action right now has seen Palace move into pole position, and if they are not careful, they could lose out to Roy Hodgson’s side with Sessegnon unlikely to wait around for ever.
