Crystal Palace are in advanced talks to sign Adam Armstrong, according to Sky Sports.

The Eagles are looking to bolster their ranks ahead of Patrick Vieira’s first season at Selhurst Park.

And if Palace land Armstrong, they’d be bringing one of the best Championship players up into the Premier League.

Sky Sports claims Blackburn have rejected an initial offer from Palace for Armstrong.

However, the Eagles remain strongly interested in doing a deal for the £17,000-a-week marksman.

Southampton, looking for a Danny Ings replacement, have apparently also had an offer rejected.

While the Saints remain interested, they’re currently looking into alternative options, added the report.

Rovers are reportedly looking for £20million for Armstrong, the 2020-21 PFA Player of the Year.

Last season, the 23-year-old scored 30 goals – a mark bettered only in the Championship by Brentford’s Ivan Toney.

Crystal Palace to sign “devastating” striker?

Last November, Tony Mowbray praised Armstrong after his brace helped Blackburn to a 3-1 win over QPR.

“Adam does (make a difference) as he has done all season,” FourFourTwo quotes him as saying. “I think Adam has matured and he’s only 23.

“He’s a boy really, but his explosive pace at the top end of the pitch allows you to play both ways, to not be overly concerned if you’re pinned back around the edge of your box.

“Because one pass releases pressure to someone like (Harvey) Elliott to play the pass that he can hit just leaving it in the space for the speed and dynamic movement of Armstrong – it’s a devastating effect for the team.”
