Sky Sports have claimed on their Transfer Centre (Friday, 14.53pm) that Crystal Palace have seen a £25million bid rejected for Watford wide man Ismaila Sarr – with Watford said to be wanting nearer double that figure, at a whopping £50million.
Sarr, 22, broke onto the Premier League scene last term after joining Watford from Rennes. The 22-time Senegal international had a hand in 11 goals during 28 Premier League outings despite Watford suffering relegation to the Championship.
The winger has started Watford’s last two Championship fixtures but he was expected to leave the club. However, with just two hours remaining in the window, his final chance to leave Watford may have just evaporated.
The Hornets have opted to turn down a £25million offer from Palace on the second deadline day, with Watford wanting closer to £50million. Palace have already signed Eberechi Eze this summer, while Andros Townsend and Wilf Zaha remain.
TBR’s view – Sarr would have been a bargain at just £25m
And Palace know that. A player with an impressive array of international caps at the tender age of 22, but with an impressive end product that has already proved effective in the Premier League – Sarr is worth more than Palace’s offer.
Especially given that Watford have no time to spend what would have been an incoming £25million, the Hornets have made the right decision not to cash in on Sarr. If Palace return, an offer should be at least £40million.
